Meridian Engine is a client-side research tool. Here is how your data is handled:
All your research data — saved papers, collections, chat history, screening decisions, and settings — is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB and localStorage. Nothing is sent to or stored on our servers.
When you use Meridian's features, your search queries and coordinates are sent to these public academic APIs:
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Meridian sends only the minimum data required (search terms, coordinates, DOIs).
If you use the AI Research Assistant, you must provide your own Anthropic API key. Your key is stored in memory only — it is never saved to disk, never sent to our servers, and is automatically cleared when you close the tab. All API calls go directly from your browser to Anthropic.
We use privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand aggregate usage. No personal data is collected, and no tracking cookies are set.
